Got a scary text about my license being suspended from a fake RMV link.

I just got a text message saying it's from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts RMV. It had a notice ID and everything, MA-77421-9B. It said my case status required immediate action, that I had a delinquent citation balance. It threatened that my driving privileges and vehicle registration would get an immediate "Non-Renewal" status if I didn't pay.

The text told me to follow a secure link to clear my record. It said "CLICK HERE TO PAY ONELINE NOW" and had a link. It even listed an official portal as https://www.mass.gov/how-to/pay-a-citation, but when I tried that it was a 404 error page. The message said payment confirmation had to be received within 24 hours to avoid extra charges. The whole thing felt off, especially with the broken link. The text came from phone number (941) 661-8202.
