Paid for a puppy from a Facebook ad and got scammed

I saw an ad on Facebook for a golden retriever puppy from CompanionCareAnimalRescue.org. We wanted the dog, so we sent $300 through Zelle to an email, [email protected].

After we paid, they emailed us a vet bill for $420. Something felt off, so we actually went to that vet's office to check. The vet showed us their real invoices, and they looked nothing like the one we got. They also had no record of the dog or of any rescue company called Companion Care.

The whole thing was a scam. The website, the email, all of it. We're out $300 and there's no puppy.
