Got a job offer and a check but something felt off

They reached out to me on LinkedIn. Said I got the remote job after the interview. Then they sent me a check to deposit for equipment. I didn’t make the deposit. The check just showed up in the mail. They used the name Covius. The email was [email protected]. Phone number was (718) 496-7362. They gave an address at 720 S Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO 80246. I didn’t lose any money because I didn’t do it. But it didn’t make sense to me.
