Got a scary debt settlement letter for accounts I never set up
I got this letter in the mail and it really worried me. At the top it says it's about Discover, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Capital One, and American Express. It's from something called the Negotiations Department.
It says they have a credit settlement for me, which I never set up. It says I have to respond within 10 days or I'll get interest building up on unsecured credit at an unreasonable rate and penalties. It shows estimated creditor balances and a settlement amount and a proposed program payment. There's a reference number and it says to call 1-888-418-7456.
At the bottom it says this is a communication from Debt.Help at an address in Gold River, CA. I don't know what this is. I didn't arrange any settlement.
