Fake BoatFax request led to a $60 charge for nothing

I was trying to sell my boat and got an email from [email protected]. The person said they wanted a BoatFax report before they would come look at it. So I went online to get one.

I found a site and paid $60 for the report. The report they sent was useless, just junk data. After I paid, the person who wanted the BoatFax never contacted me again. The whole thing felt off.

It seems like there are fake BoatFax sites set up just to take your money. Maybe it was even a bot or something that sent the first email. I'm out $60 and got nothing for it.
