Getting urgent text messages for someone else's debt

I got two text messages for a guy named Anthony B Smolinski. I have no idea who that is. The messages said it was an urgent business matter and a case had escalated, telling me to call some number and referencing a file. It was clearly about some debt or collection.

I replied STOP to opt out like the message said. The opt-out confirmation came back from "Empire Merchant Solutions LLC" and gave a support email. It just felt off getting these urgent, scary texts meant for someone who had my phone number over fifteen years ago. Why is this company texting a number for a person who hasn't been associated with it since 2007? It's confusing and annoying.
