Got a message from a Facebook ad about a job, then they asked for a check

I saw an ad on Facebook about a job. Someone contacted me from it. They had a phone number, 1(360) 508-2897. They said it was for employment.
Then they asked me to send a check. They wanted me to use Venmo or Zelle to send it. I didn't send any money, so I didn't lose any. But the whole thing felt off. Getting a message from an ad and then being asked to send a check right away. It didn't make sense for a real job.
