Booked a band for a party and the payment address kept changing

I got a booking request from someone named Josh Barrera for a birthday party. He wanted me to book his company, Goldenbandent, for the event. Then he asked for a specific band to be booked and wanted the whole payment for the band to go through our event center first.

So the band contacted us directly and sent a contract. The total was $1600. They asked for a wire transfer but I refused and said I'd write a check instead. That's when things got weird. They sent an address for a random person who wasn't even on the contract. When I questioned that, they sent a second address to a place in New York, but it was under a completely different name and a different company. Nothing added up.
