Got hired for a voiceover job then asked for money upfront

They hired me for a voiceover job called The Shadow in the Mirror for $5000. Then they tried to get me to pay $100 upfront before I even got any money from them. Their email was [email protected] and they gave me a phone number (111) 111-1111. Said it was an employment thing. I didn’t send the money though. Something felt off about it. They wanted the payment first and that didn’t make sense to me.
