Job offer asked me to deposit a check for over three thousand

I got an email from someone calling themselves a mystery shopper company. They said I was hired and sent me a check for 3770.23. They told me to deposit it and then send money back.

No phone number on the email but they gave a number (661) 237-9074 and an address in Baton Rouge. The check looked real but something felt off. I didn't deposit it. I just stopped replying because it didn't make sense for a job I never interviewed for.
