Someone called me today, Tuesday, said their name was Sloane Whitaker with the office of tax relief assistance enrollment services. They said my file came across their desk for follow-up review. Gave me a direct line to call back at 202-946-8559.

They mentioned missed filings, unresolved balances, penalties, or if I got notices recently. Said there might be updated 2025 and 2026 programs that could help. Did not ask for money or anything, just wanted me to call back. But I never asked for any tax help, and I don’t know how they got my number.

The whole thing felt strange. No company name on anything, just a person calling out of nowhere. The number they called from was (888) 663-0867. I looked up the address they gave, 206 Oristo Ridge Way in West Columbia, SC, but that doesn’t match any real office I can find.
