Got a scam call after trying to get help from Yahoo

I contacted yahoo.com using their chat box because I needed help with my personal email. They said I’d get a call back in 24 hours. Not long after that, I got a call from a place called Protect Computers LLC. The guy said his name was John Bruce and gave a number, 888-653-3567. He said he was with “microsoft tech” but the word microsoft was spelled wrong. That should have been a red flag right there.

I have no idea how this John Bruce person intercepted the call I was supposed to get from Yahoo. It doesn’t make sense. I went online later and looked it up. I found out it’s a scam company operating out of India. The whole thing felt off from the start.
