Lost $600 on a beagle puppy scam from a Facebook ad

I saw an ad for beagle puppies on Facebook. I sent a $300 deposit to the breeder, Roxy Beagle Kennel Club, and we arranged for me to pick up the puppy on Friday, February 13th. When I contacted them that day to confirm, they said there was a family emergency and someone was in the hospital, so they couldn't meet. They said they'd have a reputable company deliver the puppy instead.

Then the shipping company started asking for more money. They wanted $500, $600, or $700 for a crate they said would be refunded at delivery. The breeder said they paid $200 toward it, and I had to send another $300 to a person named Alexis Acosta. It felt like they were working together. After that, they demanded another $500 for insurance. That's when I knew it was a scam.

The shipping person even threatened me with jail time for abandoning a puppy that never existed. I never got a dog or my money back. I'm out $600 total.
