Mail about a UCC statement that looks official but is a scam

I got this notice in the mail that looks like some kind of official state document. It was asking for $98 for a copy of my UCC statement for a transaction with ********, LLC. I do have an account with that company for my solar panels.

I tried looking up the company on the notice so I could pay online. That’s when I found out it’s a scam. So I didn’t send any money. Just wanted to report it here.

Mail about a UCC form with a hidden solicitation in the fine print

I got this California UCC Statement Request Form in the mail for both companies I work for. They had our identifying information right but used our physical address instead of our mailing address. It asks for a $98.00 statement service fee and gives you less than a week to respond.

Way down at the end of the small print it finally says they're not affiliated with any state or government agency and it's just a solicitation. If you pay they'll get a copy of the report that you can get way cheaper from the actual government. If I didn't read all the fine print on invoices I don't recognize I would have just paid it without thinking.
