Charged $30 a month after being told it was a one-time $1 fee

I saw an offer from VinHistoryUSA.com for a VIN lookup for just $1. They said it was a one-time charge. I went ahead and paid it.

Next thing I know, $29.95 came out of my account. They signed me up for some monthly subscription without making that clear at all. I never agreed to that. I've tried to cancel this subscription with them, but they keep trying to take the money out every month. It's really frustrating.

Charged $30 after buying a $1 report, no refund

I went to vinhistoryusa.com and bought a vehicle history report they said was $1. There was nothing clear about it signing me up for a subscription. Then about $30 just came out of my account on my credit card, which I never agreed to. So that's $31 total.

I never signed up for any recurring billing. The site feels misleading, like they get you with the cheap first charge and then hit you with more. I tried emailing them at [email protected] but got no reply. They won't refund the charge.

I already had to dispute it with my bank. I'm reporting vinhistoryusa.com for these unauthorized charges.

Charged $29.95 after trying to cancel a $1 report subscription

I was trying to look up info on a license plate for someone at my daughter's school. I paid $1 for a report from vinhistoryusa.com, which said I could cancel. The report was basically nothing. I tried to cancel using the website and emailed them. I got a reply from someone named Jack Kenny telling me to use the cancellation link in my first email.

I tried to cancel three different times. Then I saw a charge for $29.95 on my debit card. My bank flagged it as fraud. I called and confirmed it was fraudulent, and they told me I should call the company to confirm the cancellation. I tried calling the number, (877) 676-8162, and it was an out-of-service Verizon message.

I called my bank back and they put a stop-payment on it. Hopefully that flags it so I don't get charged again.
