Mailed a check to deposit and buy Sephora gift cards for them

I got a package in the mail and inside was a check. They wanted me to deposit it into my bank account. Then I was supposed to go to stores and buy Sephora gift cards, no less than $250 each. After that I had to scratch the back of the cards and send them a picture of the codes to the number they gave me.

The number they wanted me to text was (501) 683-8739. Their email is [email protected]. It just felt off. I didn't deposit anything. I didn't lose any money but it was just a weird thing to get in the mail.

Got a job offer to evaluate services but the website doesn't exist

I got a message from someone saying I could evaluate services on my own time and get paid $750. They said they'd contact me within two weeks. The email was from [email protected] and they said the website was Vlexshopper.com.

I tried to look up their website to check it out, but I couldn't find it anywhere. The link they sent just says the compensation is $400, not $750. That didn't make sense.

I already gave them my name, address, and phone number because they said they'd contact me. The whole thing feels off. Their address just says FL, USA.
