Someone used a friend's Facebook profile to try and scam me for a grant
I got a message from who I thought was a friend on Facebook. It was very persuasive. They told me to contact their Facebook friend to get a free government grant. All I had to do was send a 1000 dollar processing fee and I could get a grant for 120k.
I played along. He started asking for info. Next of kin. He wanted a picture of my driver's license. I didn't send that, but he said I was still approved. The whole thing felt off.
I think he had used my friend's actual Facebook page to make it seem real. This scam is old, but the twist was using my friend's real profile, picture and everything.

Saw an ad for a cheap Bible, now they keep trying to charge me $26
I was online and saw an ad on Facebook for an Ethiopian Bible. It said it was 4.90 cents. I put 5 dollars in my account to buy it. Now they have tried four times to take 26.85 dollars out of my account. They keep trying to get that money from me.

Ordered from a Facebook sale, never got my sprays
I saw a sale on Facebook for sprays, $5 each. I ordered two bottles on February 19th and the money came right out of my account. I emailed them and they wrote back saying they were running behind but my order would ship soon. They even gave me an order number, but when I tried to look it up on their website, nothing came up.
I emailed them again and they said my order shipped on March 1st. But they never gave me a tracking number, even when I asked. I started checking reviews and found a bunch of other people saying they never got their orders either.
Today, a lady messaged me on Facebook after she saw my review. She said she got the same email from them about a ship date. I still haven't received anything.

Sent $1000 for a car that didn't exist, got blocked
I got a message on Facebook about a car for sale. The lady said someone else was interested but she was going to put a down payment. I told her I could put $1000 down instead. I know it was dumb, but I really wanted my first car.
So I drove an hour to the location she gave me. Nobody was there. I tried to message her back and she had blocked me. My money is just gone.

Saw ads on Facebook for laundry bags, paid and got nothing
I saw these ads on Facebook for laundry bags. They showed several sizes and a lot of different styles. They looked really nice and would have been a pretty way to keep my laundry sorted. I went ahead and ordered.
I never got anything. I didn't download a picture from the website they sent me to, but I have the receipt from PayPal. It was for $85.48. The email connected to it was [email protected]. Just nothing ever showed up.

Saw a fake Macy's ad on Facebook, got charged and no refund
I saw an ad on Facebook for Macy's, selling a fragrance for $9.95. I put my card info in to buy it, but then I got an error message. My card was already charged the $9.95, though. About ten minutes later, they tried to take another $21.00 from my card. I canceled my card right away so that one didn't go through.
I tried to contact the company about the first charge to get my money back. They wouldn't refund it. I wasn't even talking to a real person, just some bot.

Answered a French bulldog ad, paid $100, and never got the dog
I saw an ad for French bulldogs on Facebook and answered it. The person wanted $100 down and then another $500 when the dog was delivered. I paid the $100.
Then they said they used a professional delivery service. But then that service wanted me to pay more money before they would deliver the dog. That didn't seem right to me, so I refused to pay it.
The delivery never happened. I never got a dog and I'm out the $100. The ad was from someone in Monroe, WI.

Got charged $54 when I was only supposed to pay $8
I saw something on Facebook and was supposed to only pay $8.00. That's what it said. But then they charged me $54. The money came out of my account. It was supposed to be $8, not $54. This was for an online purchase. I don't know why it was so much more.

Ordered Christmas clothes from a fake Old Navy ad on Facebook, never got them
I was on Facebook at the end of November 2025 and saw an ad that looked like it was from Old Navy. I placed an order for Christmas. After I paid, I realized it wasn't Old Navy at all and the order was coming from outside the U.S. They sent a confirmation and tracking info, but I never got the package.
I contacted customer service after the tracking said it was delivered. They said they'd reship it. I gave them my address again and they sent another one. By then it was after Christmas. The tracking said the second delivery happened too, but I still never got anything.
I asked for a full refund because I knew something was wrong. Every time I asked, they'd reply and apologize, but no refund ever came. I used my credit card, but I missed the 60-day window to dispute the charge, so I lost $41.71.

Got a text about test results, ended up with a monthly charge I never agreed to
I got a text saying my test results were sent to my email. Then they wanted .50 cents, which I agreed to pay through PayPal. I did not agree to any recurring payments of $24.99 a month! That money just came out of my account. I never signed up for a monthly service. It feels like a trick.

I ordered 8 pairs of golf pants on Facebook for around $40 shipped. The first time, they said it was delivered but I never got it. I emailed to complain and they said they would ship another order. The same thing happened again—it says delivered and I never received anything. I'm out $40.

Aggressive seller on Facebook using stolen phone numbers
I got a message on Facebook from someone trying to sell items. They were very aggressive, pushing hard for me to buy something. The person used two phone numbers: (785) 701-7245 and (503) 395-2169. I found out later one of the phones was stolen.
I ended up paying $75 for an online purchase through them. It was a complete scam. The website they used looked similar to a real one but it wasn't. I lost my money and the whole thing felt really off from the start.

Ordered t-shirts that never arrived, seller keeps stalling
I saw an offer for t-shirts on Facebook and placed an order. After a few days I got an email saying the item shipped and they gave me a tracking number. The tracking said it was delivered, but I never got anything.
I told the seller I didn't receive it. They said they would send a new shipment and gave me another tracking number. That one said it was delivered on a Sunday, which didn't happen. When I contacted them again, they just said it was delivered. I asked them what shipping company they used. Instead of answering, they offered me a 70% refund.
I refused that and asked again for the carrier name. I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Right after I did that, the seller suddenly offered a full refund. It's been a week now and I'm still waiting for my money.

Ordered blue hosta plants from a Facebook ad, got useless black seeds
I saw an ad on Facebook for beautiful blue hosta plants and I ordered them. What I got was just a tiny bag of black seeds. They never even came up, they were completely useless.
I paid $25 for this. The package came from an address in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. It's just a counterfeit product scam.
How does Facebook allow these fake scam ads to run? They took my money and sent me nothing but a bag of dirt.

Someone from Facebook contacted me about help then took my money and information
Back in 2019, someone reached out to me from Facebook. He said he could help me with my taxes and unemployment. I ended up losing $20,000 to him.
From then on, he blocked me. He has run every bit of my information. Every single phone hacking, everything he can do. He made a data breach with Facebook and Apple. It's medical fraud too. I need help shedding light on this gang hacking.

Charged for two bracelets when I only ordered one
I bought an alcoholic magnetic bracelet from a site on Facebook on February 10th. It was $39.99 for just one bracelet, and I added a charger for $49.99. When I called their number, 833-756-1044, they told me the charger charge didn't go through with my bank.
Then on the 19th, I got two bracelets in the mail. They told me I took the option for two bracelets, but I didn't. They charged me $51.81 for one bracelet and then another $19.00 for the second bracelet option. They said that included tax and shipping.
I want a full refund, but they said I have to mail the bracelets back at my own expense. They're keeping the tax and shipping money. I already reported the Facebook site as fraud. I'm sending the bracelets back tomorrow, the 20th. Is there any way to get all my money back?

Got a fake Zelle email after trying to sell something on Facebook
I was trying to sell some items on Facebook. A person contacted me about buying them and asked for my email address to send a Zelle payment. Then I got an email that looked like it was from Zelle. It told me to call a phone number to set up a business account.
When I told the buyer I didn't get any payment notification or see the money in my account, she started pressuring me. She said she was out $1,000 and that I needed to call that number to fix it. She was really pushing for me to call.
I didn't call. I can only guess they were going to try and pressure me into refunding money I never even got.

Responded to a puppy post and got scammed out of $100
I saw a post on Facebook about a shih tzu puppy for sale. The seller wanted a $200 holding fee through Cash App or other online payments. I told her I don't use those. Then she asked for a $200 Apple gift card. I said no to that too.
She came back and said how about a $100 gift card and she'd deliver the puppy. She said "deal?" and I said yes. I sent her the card and went to the place we agreed to meet.
Then she sent me another message. She said I wouldn't get the puppy until I sent another $100 Apple gift card to secure his medical records. I said no. She just said then NO PUPPY. I'm out the $100 and there's no puppy.

Bought a Yeti cooler lottery online and got charged for a subscription I didn't want
I saw this thing on Facebook for a Yeti cooler online lottery. It was just $10.95 to buy. I went ahead and did it.
But then I also got "enrolled" in some monthly subscription. I did not know about this at all. They started charging me $81.12 every month. It went on for four months before I finally caught the charge on my statement. I just got it cancelled on 02/15/26. All told, they took $335 from me.

Ordered a cleaning solution from a Facebook ad, got charged monthly without my permission
I saw an ad on Facebook for a fragrant floor mopping solution and I ordered it. When it came, it had no fragrance at all. Then the next month, I got another bottle delivered and I was shocked. I never signed up for any monthly subscription.
I sent them an email right away telling them to stop it, since I didn't order more. I got no confirmation back from them. The next month, it showed up again at my door.
I've sent several messages and emails now saying how upset I am that they won't stop this. There's nowhere on their website to pause or cancel a subscription. These people are a scam.
